Default Mr. DeLorean has Passed Away - Please leave condolences here

Dear Forum,

Early this morning I was contacted by Mr. DeLorean's family and I am sorry to report that John DeLorean passed away last night from complications involving a stroke.

He was an inspiration to many of us and was a brilliant engineer, a good father, and a very gracious man.

He will be missed by many. I encourage you to leave any well wishes and thoughts about this terrible news on my forum for the family members to see how much he was appreciated and loved in the DeLorean community.

Mr. DeLorean's family wishes to have some privacy during the next few days before the wake and funeral. I encourage everyone to respect their wishes by not calling them or contacting them during this tough time. I will pass along any information they wish for me to let the public know in regards to addresses for cards to be sent and information pertaining to the wake and funeral.

Regards,
Tamir

PS: Here is a tribute video I made for the DeLorean family that was displayed during Mr. DeLorean's wake. http://www.entermyworld.com/dhistory/jzd.zip It is 6 meg and 8 minutes long.

Information pertaining to the wake can be found via the following link:

For those that wish to attend the public portion of the wake, please do so in the spirit of John's memory and in a respectable fashion. DeLoreans are welcomed, but this is a time to honor a man, not create a spectacle.

I know John loved life and lived large, so this would be a great opportunity to show the family how many people's lives he has affected in a positive light.

Regards,
Tamir

I would like to thank you all on behalf of my family for all your support and love over the years. Some of you have become very close friends of mine and it has been a joy knowing all of you. My father revelled in the love an adoration you continued to foster him with over the years. I invite you all to come pay your respects and I thank Tamir for posting our request for taste during this time. We welcome all of you to join our family in this our darkest hour, but please, as much as I love all of you in times of joy, we ask that we be left to grieve in peace during this time. I know all you want to do is pour your love, gratitude and feelings of kindness towards us, but at this time it is very difficult to deal with.

My father was the greatest man I have ever known. He was my best friend, my mentor and my favorite person in this world. He loved that he was still so well loved to this day, and know that he died a happy man. As for those who wish to send cards and such, I will work on setting up a post office box for them to go to and try to assemble a memorial to bring to the next car show.

Again, thank you for all the love and support, we look forward to many years of happily remembering the dream.

on the drive back from DMC Florida's grand opening i recieved a call from my girlfriend mother with the bad news. this was about half an hour ago. i can't believe no one knew yeasterday. this is very bad news. i would like to say that the past month of owning a DeLorean and meating the great people i did this weekend have changed my life forever. i am living a deam. a dream of a man whose life many could never match. what other car can your drive down the highway and make smiles appear as you pass every car that slows to get a glance. i call it the car of a million smiles!

Tamir i have many photos i took with a good camera. if you want i'll send you them to you to put in your photo section.

JZD rest in peace, we'll carry your dream on.

This is truly devastating news to me. The DeLorean is my favorite car, and I have always dreamed of meeting Him one day, just to say thanks for creating what I believe is the greatest automobile of all time. He will truly be missed by many. Someone asked me once, "Who is your idol?" and I said, "John DeLorean, because he built a car company from nothing, and was able to design and build his car, and sell it to the masses, accomplishing what noone thought was possible, even if only for a short time." Someday I will own a DeLorean, and 'Live the Dream.' Goodbye John, and God Bless
