That write up is so littered with bad facts...built in the late 70s...top speed of 109...etc.

I interpret their statement more as how the design has held up (having been actually designed the late 70s) than actually being BUILT then. Of course, being in the know may assist with that, while someone off the street may think they literally were being built then.

I think that's actually the third time it's been on ebay... it's on there again right now! If I had wads of cash to throw around I'd consider it... it's pretty close to 100% original!

I suppose that makes sense. Didn't like the comments on John Z being a drug kingpin though either.

Some of those comments.... what ever.

"This is a terrible deal. I almost got into restoring a DeLorean alongside my dad a few years back, but there was one main thing that kept us from that: DeLorean owners are idiots. They think the cars are worth thousands more than they really are on account of those BTTF movies; this is not a 20k car; it's not a 15k car until I see pictures of its belly. 5 of the 6 DeLoreans I looked at when I was in the market had rust on the underside, and 5 out of the 5 rusted DeLorean owners insisted that their car had no rust because, "It's made from stainless steel."

Honestly, if this one has been kept stock, there's a lot of electrical issues that would cost even more money to fix. IIRC 81 cars had a host of relay issues that could fry their whole fusebox to burn out if you didn't take steps to correct a problem that should have been addressed at the R&D level of this car's conception.

One of my buddies has been a mechanic for Chevrolet, Porsche, Audi, and VW (what a combo, I know!); he told me about when he helped one of his friends who bought a DeLorean and described the experience from beginning to end as such: "Take everything you like about cars, everything you like about working on them, driving them, hooning them and shit, and take that all away. If you want to experience driving a DeLorean take a two-seater B+S powered go-kart, put sodium silicate in the oil reservoir and your fattest friend in the seat next to you"
