My car starts fine, idles fine, but the accelerator does not pull the sensor plate down. If I manually press the sensor plate down the engine revs great. Is there a vacuum line that could be shot, cracked, or disconnected?
Thanks for any helpful suggestions. |

Are you sure the throttle cable isn't snapped? Does pressing the gas pedal do anything at all?

Yes, I am sure the throttle cables are fully functioning. To clarify my earlier statement, the car starts fine, idles fine but when you depress the gas pedal, it kills the engine. So, it is as if some vacuum line or something having to do with the throttle position sensor is shot. I am not a mechanic - just passing along what is being observed.

FYI:
There is no throttle position sensor. The only thing the gas pedal does is open the butterflies between the W pipe and the mixture unit. Sounds like your mixture adjustment is way off. That could be the WUR, lambda, primary pressure or a large vacuum leak. Is your frequency valve buzzing at idle?

Sounds like the plunger in the fuel distributor is sticking. Is it hard to press the plate down manually?

The motor should die when you manually depress the air sensor plate. If it instead revs up that would mean you have a massive air leak. The throttle is not directly connected to the air sensor plate.
