Default Unhooked door rod

Today, I was inside my driver's door getting my window back on track (success!) and noticed that one of the rods in the door mechanism is disconnected and just laying there. The rod in question goes rearward from the bell crank and moves back and forth when the door is locked/unlocked. And oddly enough, my doors work perfectly, they latch/unlatch and lock/unlock as they should...hard to believe if something is unhooked.

I can't find a good diagram of the lock rods in the service manual and can't tell where this loose rod is supposed to hook. Anyone have a good diagram I can look at?

Thanks,
Scott

Sounds like the locking rod to the rear door latch. You are right, you would not notice any difference in operation, the front door latch will still lock and prevent the door from opening. You are right again, there is no good picture. You could try opening the other door and looking inside.
