I was thinking about the sides, underneath the torsion bars (that's where mine is separating). Screws would less optimal there because you'll be pulling against the threads only. Eventually the fiberglass holding them will give way.

I would LOVE to come to this, and have been debating it for a while now. The thing is that I'm getting *married* that day, in the late afternoon-evening.
